Greece: Thursday, February 2, 2017, on his 97th birthday. Predeceased by his wife, Frances “Red” (Tantalo) Lacagnina; son, Michael Lacagnina; father and mother, Michael and Dolorata Lacagnina; brothers, Frank, Michael, Joseph and Nicholas Lacagnina; sisters, Mary Pilato, Elizabeth DiGregorio, Anna Ippolito, Elvira Constantino and Sister Mary Aid Lacagnina, RSM. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (Douglas) Stone, Carole Ann (Scott) Murray of TX; daughter-in-law, Sheila Lacagnina; grandchildren, Jennifer Lacagnina, Michael Jr. (Christina) Lacagnina, Douglas and Stephanie Murray, Meredith (Joey) DeLaBruere, Brandon (Lindsey) Stone; great grandchildren, Samuel, Kieran and Porter Stone, Noah and Reese DeLaBruere, Everly Lacagnina; sister, Yolanda (Pat) Bouffard of CA; sister-in-law, Christine Lacagnina; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lacagnina was a retired captain from the Rochester City Fire Department, a past president of Eagles Club #52, and a Naval and Armed Forces Veteran of WWII. He enjoyed being a member of the Art Club at the Greece Senior Center. In his early retirement, he shared his love of art instructing children at the Greece Senior Center’s Afterschool Daycare program and various other volunteer programs. His greatest passion was dancing with his wife “Red” through their 65 years of marriage.
Friends may call MONDAY from 4-8PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On Tuesday morning, February 7, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 in St. John Evangelist Church of Greece, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Ronald McDonald House, 333 Westmoreland Dr., Rochester, NY 14620 in his memory.
