Rochester: Saturday, April 7, 2018, at age 105. Predeceased by her husband, James Cassata; son-in-law, Guy Solimano, grandson, Greg Chandler; brothers, Anthony (Concetta) Celso, Amadeo (Rose) Celso; sisters, Lucy Schifino, Margaret (Edward) Cangiano. She is survived by her children, Loretta (Robert) Streber, Marilyn Solimano, James (Barbara) Cassata of FL; grandchildren, Robert (Lynn) Streber, Cynthia Chandler, Gary (Karen) Streber, Guy Solimano, Steven (Sandy) Solimano, Laurie Bauer, Thomas (Diane) Streber, James (Peggy) Cassata, Kristine Hoskins; 26 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Cassata was a member of the Rosary Guild at Holy Rosary Church and owned Cassata’s Bakery with her husband, Jim.
No prior calling. Her family will receive friends on Saturday morning, April 21, from 9:30-10:30 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff at Park Ridge Living Center, especially the staff at Cottage 200, and her nurse practitioner, Marybeth Hossenlopp, for their loving and compassionate care, and for embracing her as part of their family.
