Basso, Anthony “Tony”
Gates: Surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at age 88. Predeceased by his father and mother, and four sisters in Melfi, Italy. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carmela (Scanio) Basso; daughters, Angela (Christopher) Hunter, Joanne (Donnie) Ruffalo, Lisa (Kurt) Thompson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Collins, Brian (Kim) Kirkpatrick, Amberlyn Persi, Anthony Persi, Michael (Gabrielle) Persi, Joshua (Rachel) VanDusen, Paul L. VanDusen; 8 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Diego Scanio; sister-in-law, Lina Bennardo of Italy; many nieces and nephews. Tony was a retired auto mechanic from Philanz Oldsmobile.
Friends may call THURSDAY from 4-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On Friday, May 25, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Theodore’s Church. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Lifetime Care, 3111 S. Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 in his memory.
