Obituary for Julian Rybczak

Julian Rybczak
Rybczak, Julian
Peacefully, June 18, 2018, at age 91. Predeceased by his wife, Maria. He is survived by his children, John (Patricia) Rybczak and Christine (James) Craft; grandchildren, Alexander (Jennifer) Rybczak, Kathryn (Constantine) Kapatos, and Elizabeth (Brian) Dell; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Vito, and Louis Rybczak, Spiro and Penelope Kapatos, and Theodore Dell.
Julian was born in the Ukraine in 1926 and endured the hardships of both Soviet and Nazi oppression in the World War II era. His teenage years were spent working dawn-to-dusk on a farm in Austria until liberated by Allied troops. He was then able to fulfill his dream and emigrate to the U.S. whereupon he immediately joined the U.S. Army. Julian then served in Korea where he was wounded in battle and received the Purple Heart.
Once home, Julian settled in Rochester and married Maria who had endured similar hardships in war-torn Europe. Together they raised John and Christine while Julian worked for many years as a tailor for Bonds. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his world view was one of openness and acceptance perhaps honed by repeatedly overcoming adversity from a young age. A quiet, kind, and wise man, Julian had many interests and discussions with him on such topics as history, politics, and astronomy were always insightful. His love of family and country were strong and steadfast; fittingly, his birthday was July 4th. He’ll be forever in our hearts.
No prior visitation. On Wednesday, June 27, family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Apostles Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Apostles Church, 530 Lyell Ave. Rochester, NY 14606.
