Sundays with family
How well I remember the great times we would have with aunts, uncles and cousins on
Sundays. We would all wait for the Ed Sullivan Show to start and leave as soon as it
was over. I remember Juanita sitting on the floor in front of the TV and always
turning the channels with her feet. We would all laugh and then settle in to watch
the show.
Juanita was always the organizer and one memory I will always remember was her idea
for all the cousins to sit on the staircase at aunt Phil's and sing songs.
We would always sing our favorite "Sincerely" by the McGuire sisters.
One of her favorite singers was Johnnie Ray, who's music she would play constantly.
One she would play over and over was "Cry". Some of the Lyrics read:
If your sweatheart sends a letter of goodbye.
It's no secret you'll feel better if you cry.
Well now, remember sunshine can be found behind a cloudy sky.
So let your head down and go ahead right on baby and cry.
I will always remember her strutting around like Jane Mansfield to "The Girl Can't Help It".
